Education & Background
Born in Sichuan in 1978, the young and talented Zhou Jinhua has already achieved numerous solo exhibitions worldwide. He graduated from the Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts and currently teaches at the Art Department of Beihai Institute. Zhou’s fascination with aerial photography sparked his interest in painting miniature people, offering a unique perspective on the world. Through this lens, he observes human beings both as individuals and as a collective, exploring their daily activities, living environments, social status, and life attitudes, which serve as a rich source of inspiration.
In his paintings, Zhou Jinhua goes beyond the surface to convey deeper philosophical messages about social transformation and phenomena. His meticulously thought-out artworks often possess an absurd and impressive quality, presenting a colorful and sympathetic palette. His style can be likened to post-modern realism, with paintings reminiscent of comic book illustrations that narrate fascinating dramas.
Zhou Jinhua’s talent has garnered recognition and accolades, including winning the Sovereign Asia Art Prize in Hong Kong in 2007 and a recommendation award at the Shanghai Art Expo young artists’ exhibition in 2006. His auction record price stands at HK$504,000 for his artwork Where was it from, sold at Poly International.
His artistic influence extends globally, with exhibitions held in major cities such as Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Luxembourg, Berlin, and more. Zhou’s artworks have found homes in prestigious collections, including the Guangdong Art Museum in China, White Rabbit Collection in Sydney, Yuz Museum in Indonesia, and the University of Mannheim in Germany. His unique portrayal of aerial views and the thought-provoking messages conveyed through his art have made him a notable figure in the contemporary art world.
