Education & Background
Born in Deyang, Sichuan in 1969, Yin Kun completed his studies at the Sichuan Apa Normal Junior College Fine Arts Department in 1992. In 1993, he relocated to Beijing, where he embarked on creating artworks influenced by his diverse life experiences and observations of various social strata. Through his art, Yin Kun questions and explores the essence and origins of surreal social phenomena, shedding light on modern society’s ignorance.
His work delves into the survival experiences and genuine emotions of contemporary individuals, employing artistic styles such as pop, absurd realism, and kitsch to convey a direct and incisive message to viewers and collectors. With vibrant colors, Yin Kun’s pictures evoke hope and an optimistic outlook on life.
Yin Kun’s masterpieces have been showcased in numerous domestic and international exhibitions, gaining worldwide recognition and collectors’ admiration. As a wise, sensitive, and active young artist, painting serves as an outlet and a record of his life and emotional sensibility.
Notable achievements and milestones in Yin Kun’s career include being featured in the 2011 Wall Street Journal TV program as ‘One to watch.’ He achieved a seminal sell-out solo exhibition in Jakarta, Indonesia in 2007 and another sell-out exhibition with the Art Futures Group in 2012. Over 100 of his artworks have been sold through auctions, with his highest auction record being US$67,080 for Hero Series No. l, sold at Sotheby’s in Hong Kong.
Yin Kun’s art has been displayed internationally in countries such as the Netherlands, Singapore, Germany, China, and Indonesia. Additionally, one of his paintings graced the cover of Public Art magazine in Korea in June 2012.
