Liu Fei, born in Nanjing in 1964, is an experienced artist who graduated from the Nanjing Academy of Fine Arts and now resides in Beijing. His distinctive symbol, seen in his artworks since the early 2000s, is bald-headed women dressed in Chinese uniforms, depicted in a more matured style.

Liu Fei’s portrayal of bald-headed women with big smiles and guns conveys a sense of rebellion and excitement. In the art world, bald heads became a symbol of individualism during the New Wave art movement in the mid-1980s. This trend continued in the 1990s, and Liu Fei draws inspiration from this era. He finds bald-headed women attractive and unconventional, contrasting with the typical images of beauty often seen in magazines.

His bold and strong imagery has gained worldwide recognition, and his artworks are collected internationally. Liu Fei has held exhibitions in major cities such as Hong Kong, Beijing, Bangkok, Singapore, Zurich, Essen, and Madrid since 2001. His seminal solo exhibition at Art Miami, Miami Beach in 2006 was highly acclaimed. Additionally, his works were featured in the Power of Fashion exhibition in Zurich, Switzerland.

In 2011, one of Liu Fei’s artworks set an auction record of US$38,571 (HK$300,854) at Zhong Cheng Auctions in Taipei.
